‘Operation Checkmate’ Causes a Stir! 30 Indian Truck Drivers Arrested in the US—Find Out the Full Story and What Lies Ahead for These Immigrants. Stirred by ‘Operation Checkmate’! 30 Indian truck drivers caught in America, know what is the whole matter and what will happen next with these immigrants

After the Joe Biden administration, the current administration has also intensified its crackdown against illegal immigrants in America and those working without valid documents. The US Border Patrol has arrested 30 Indian nationals driving commercial trucks in Arizona as part of a major and highly secretive operation ‘Operation Checkmate’. After this sudden major action by the American authorities, there has been panic among the illegal immigrants living there. All the caught Indian drivers are now facing the serious threat of deportation from the US for violating immigration laws and the legal process to send them back to India has been started soon.

What is ‘Operation Checkmate’? A trap of security forces was laid in Yuma sector of Arizona

According to the official report released by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), this special operation was conducted in the Yuma sector of Arizona state between May 11 and May 15 to strictly enforce the rules of immigration and commercial vehicles. In this five-day intensive checking campaign, security agencies detained a total of 52 people in various cases. During the investigation, officials found that 36 of these people were those who had entered the US borders completely illegally or were staying there even after the expiry of their visa period and were illegally driving large commercial semi-trucks. When the citizenship documents of these 36 drivers were closely scrutinized, it was shockingly revealed that 30 of these drivers are purely Indian citizens, while the remaining 6 drivers are residents of Mexico, El Salvador and Russia.

‘Game’ of licenses and work permits issued by states, investigation reveals big secrets

When US investigating officials scrutinized the driving licenses and other documents of these drivers, large-scale discrepancies and ‘gaming’ came to light. Some of the Indian drivers caught had Commercial Driving Licenses (CDL) issued by major US states like California, New York, Washington and Virginia, which they had somehow obtained. At the same time, many drivers were also found who did not have any valid document or license to drive heavy vehicles. Many of the detained people were also found to have employment authorization documents (work permits) issued under some scheme during the tenure of the previous Biden administration, but upon closer investigation it was found that the legal validity of all those permits had expired long ago and they were illegally plying trucks on American roads.

Now what will happen with these 30 Indian drivers? Deportation process accelerated

US officials have made it clear that driving heavy vehicles like commercial semi-trucks without valid documents is not only a violation of immigration laws, but it is also a major threat to the safety of American roads and national security. All the 30 Indian nationals arrested have currently been sent to immigration custody. Under US federal laws, legal action for deportation has been initiated against all of them. Under this, their documents will be shared with the Indian Embassy and Emergency Travel Certificate will be issued and as soon as the formalities are completed, they will be deported back to India through chartered or commercial flights.
