New Delhi, 07 August (HS). On Vinesh Phogat being disqualified before the finals in the 50 kg weight category at the Paris Olympics, Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha said in a statement that it is extremely shocking. She met Vinesh at the Olympic Village Polyclinic some time ago and assured her of the full support of the Indian Olympic Association, the Government of India and the entire country.
He said that we are providing all medical and emotional support to Vinesh. The Wrestling Federation of India has appealed to the UWW. They are aware that Vinesh's medical team has worked overnight to keep the weight down.
Along with Usha, Phogat's nutritionist Dinshaw Pardiwala's statement has also come. He said that despite a lot of efforts, the weight could not be reduced below 50 kg. Yesterday Vinesh played three matches, after which she drank plenty of water to avoid dehydration. After this, efforts were made to reduce the weight overnight. Even her hair was cut and clothes were shortened, but despite this the weight was found to be 100 grams more.
He further said that Vinesh is currently undergoing blood tests and other tests at the Paris Olympics hospital to ensure that there is no physical health problem in her effort to lose weight. All her tests have come out fine and she is completely healthy, but she is mentally hurt.
