News India Live, Digital Desk: 22 April 2025… This is that dark date, remembering which even today the soul trembles. When Indian tourists were spending relaxing moments with their loved ones in the beautiful valleys of Pahalgam, the Pakistan-backed brutes had put humanity to shame. Just before the first anniversary of this attack, human rights activist Arif Ajakia has unmasked the evil face of Pakistan and termed it as ‘terrorism carried out in the name of religion’. Ajakia bluntly said that for a long time, Pakistan remained under the illusion that it would attack India and India would remain silent, but now times have changed.

Massacre by asking religion, the story of that day will shiver the soul

On that day of 22 April 2025, the terrorists had crossed all limits of cruelty. The terrorists sitting in ambush surrounded the tourists, first asked their religion, made them recite Kalma and even made them remove their clothes to confirm their identity. When they became convinced that the tourists were non-Muslims, those savages killed 26 innocent people. While leaving, the killers had expressed their hatred by giving messages like ‘Tell Modi’. According to Arif Ajakia, identifying victims on the basis of their religion is the most serious crime against humanity.

‘If you keep a snake, it will bite you too’, Ajakia’s candid words

Attacking Pakistan’s anti-terrorism claims, Ajakia said that the organizations which Pakistan talks about eliminating are the creation of its own intelligence agency ISI. “If you keep snakes to bite your neighbors, don’t expect them to harm you,” he warned. He claimed that Pakistan gave protection to organizations like Taliban, which have become a big threat to it today. On international reaction, he said that America uses Pakistan for its strategic needs, not for support.

Sobs of the victims: ‘Will not forget that wound till my last breath’

Pahalgam attack devastated many happy families. Sangeeta Ganbote from Pune, who lost her husband Kaustubh, says she will never forget the horror of that day till her death. At the same time, Priyadarshini Acharya, who lost her husband Prashant Kumar Satpathy, is still waiting for justice and fulfillment of promises. Priyadarshini says that the government provided financial help, but the promise of a government job is still incomplete, due to which the future of her child is in limbo. For these families, it seems as if time has stopped on 22nd April.

India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ and fearful Pakistan

After this cowardly attack, India responded to the brick with stone through ‘Operation Sindoor’. The Indian Army destroyed more than 100 terrorists by destroying terrorist launchpads across the border in PoK. According to Ajakia, it is the result of this strong response by India that the entire last year remained free from any major terrorist attack. Although ‘Operation Sindoor’ is currently on hold, India has given a clear message that it can be restarted if needed.

Brightness is returning to the valley, but the pain still remains

After one year, the situation in Srinagar and Pahalgam is changing. The influx of tourists has increased again in the valley and people are feeling safe. The security arrangements are tight and the local economy is back on track. But amidst all this, the silence of the homes of those 26 families and the tears in their eyes are testifying that it may take centuries to heal the wounds caused by terrorism.
