Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Mohammad Asif has made a shocking disclosure. He said that Saudi Arabia has deported more than 4,700 Pakistani beggars in Pakistan.
These people had allegedly reached Saudi Arabia on fake visas and Umrah or Hajj, but they were caught illegally begging. Due to this incident, Pakistan had to raise embarrassment internationally. Asif further stated that there are about 22 million beggars in Pakistan, who earn 42 billion rupees annually. These people go abroad and tarnish the image of the country by begging. He said that Saudi Arabia has strict laws against begging, under which beggars may face fines, imprisonment and exile.
Addressing an event in Sialkot, Asif said that a large number of Pakistani beggars are being deported from the Middle Eastern countries. Saudi Arabia alone has expelled at least 4,700 Pakistani beggars out of the country. Earlier, the Pakistani Agency (FIA) itself claimed in its report that Saudi Arabia had sent 4,000 beggars back to Pakistan between 2021 and 2024. According to the agency official, these exiled beggars are mainly belonging to southern Punjab, Karachi and internal Sindh regions.
