A big update has come for the candidates preparing for ‘Joint CSIR UGC NET June 2026’, one of the most prestigious scientific eligibility examinations of the country. National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the detailed notification for this session. Along with this, the process of online registration for the examination has also started. Any candidate who is dreaming of getting admission in Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor or Ph.D. in the top institutes of the country can visit the official portal and submit their application.
From application to correction window: These are the important dates
According to the schedule released by NTA, filling of online application form has started from 27th May 2026. Eligible and interested candidates can submit their form till 19 June 2026 at 11:50 PM. The deadline has been fixed for June 20, 2026 (till 11:50 pm), giving one day’s extra time to the candidates to deposit the application fee. If any candidate makes any mistake while filling the form, then the correction window will be opened from June 22 to June 23, 2026 to correct it.
Exam will be held in two shifts in July
CSIR UGC NET June 2026 exam will be conducted on 17th and 18th July 2026. This exam will be of total 180 minutes (3 hours), in which no break will be given. The examination will be conducted in two shifts daily. The first shift will run from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon, while the second shift is scheduled from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. For the convenience of the candidates, the dates for release of exam city slip and admit card will be announced separately by NTA in the coming days.

Educational Qualification and Special Rules for 4-Year Graduates
To appear in this examination, it is mandatory for the candidates to have a Master’s degree (Post Graduation) with minimum 55 percent marks. Students who are in the final year of their post graduation or awaiting results can also apply under the ‘Appearing’ category. Additionally, students who have completed a 4-year or 8-semester Bachelor’s Degree with 75 percent marks are also directly eligible for this exam (5% relaxation is given to reserved categories). However, these 4-year undergraduate degree candidates are only eligible for JRF and Ph.D. will be considered eligible only, they will not be able to apply for the post of Assistant Professor.
Age Limit and Minimum Passing Marks Conditions
The maximum age limit for candidates applying for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) has been fixed at 30 years. At the same time, there is no maximum age limit for those applying for eligibility for PhD and Assistant Professor. To pass the exam, candidates from General, EWS and OBC categories will have to obtain a minimum of 33 percent marks, while the minimum cut-off for SC, ST and Disabled (PwD) and Third Gender categories has been set at 25 percent.
