Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his family are not taking the name of the difficulties. The case related to fake birth certificate has now reached the country’s largest court, that is, the Supreme Court. In the case, Azam Khan, his wife Tankeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam were sentenced to seven years from the lower court, which was later retained by the High Court.
Now the Khan family has pleaded in the Supreme Court against this decision. Hearing his petition, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and sought a reply on the entire matter.
What is this whole matter?
The matter is related to two different birth certificates of Abdullah Azam. It is alleged that two of his birth certificates were made, one from Rampur and the other from Lucknow, in which the dates of birth were different. Its purpose was to prove age right to contest elections.
In 2019, BJP leader Akash Saxena lodged an FIR in the case, alleging that the Khan family cheated and obtained these certificates. The MP-MLA court of Rampur sentenced all three to seven years in jail in October last year.
Abdullah Azam’s legislature was also canceled after the sentence. The family challenged the decision in the upper courts, but they did not get any relief from there either.
Now the Supreme Court will next hear the case in the second week of July. The Khan family hopes that perhaps they get some relief from the largest court, while the UP government will have to keep its side firmly. Everyone’s eyes are on this decision, as it can decide the political future of Azam Khan’s family.
