We are committed to implementing the Uniform Civil Code for social harmony and equality in the entire country.”

Addressing the huge crowd present at the rally, Shah stressed that in a democratic country the law should be equal for everyone. He said that UCC is necessary to protect the rights of women. According to the Home Minister, practices like polygamy are against the respect of women in modern society. He made it clear that after the arrival of UCC, the same law will be valid for citizens of all religions in matters like marriage, divorce and inheritance.

CAA and infiltration made the main issue

Amit Shah along with UCC CAA And also raised the issue of infiltration from across the border. He claimed that Mamata Banerjee is against giving citizenship to refugees, while BJP is giving them their rights. Shah appealed to the people of Bengal to support the BJP to end ‘corruption and mafia rule’. He promised that when the BJP government comes to power, the borders of Bengal will be made so secure that not even a bird will be able to kill it.

Opposition siege and Shah’s counterattack

Shah hit back after the opposition described the UCC as an attack on religious freedom. He said that the makers of the Constitution had envisaged a Uniform Civil Code under Article 44. He took a dig at the opposition alliance (INDIA), saying that they have come together only to save dynasticism, while BJP’s goal is ‘nation first’.
