In the winter session of Parliament, MPs are asking when the Eighth Central Pay Commission will be constituted for central government employees and armed forces. MPs from different parties have asked questions regarding the 8th Pay Commission. Is the Government aware of the ongoing agitation among central employees due to non-constitution of the 8th Pay Commission and if so, what is the reaction of the Government on this issue?
In response to such a question, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary said that at present the government does not have any proposal under consideration for the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission for the central government employees. During the Parliament session, Lok Sabha MPs Jayaprakash, Anand Bhadauria and V. Vaithilingam asked questions about the Eighth Pay Commission. He also questioned why rising inflation ignores the rising cost of living and the plight of the workforce. In response, Pankaj Chaudhary said that the 7th Pay Commission was constituted on 28 February 2014.
