News India Live, Digital Desk: Today is 31st December 2025 and everyone is busy preparing for the celebration of New Year 2026. But for the people of Bihar, the news from the Meteorological Department is a bit ‘cold’. The last evening of the year and the next 5 days are going to be heavy on the entire state. If you too are planning to go out of the house or go on a picnic tomorrow morning, then be careful, because severe cold and dense fog can become a thorn in your path.

Will it be rare to see the sun for 5 days?

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has made it clear that there is no relief from Kankani in Bihar. The speed of north-westerly winds has taken the chill to its peak in the state. It is being told that there will be ‘Cold Day’ like conditions in most parts of Bihar for the next five days. This means that the day temperature will drop so drastically that you will not get relief from the cold even in the afternoon. Even if the sun comes out, its heat will be felt ineffective due to the fog.

Dense fog slows down speed, travelers beware!

Many districts of Bihar are currently wrapped in white sheets. Visibility is so low that vehicles are crawling on the highway. The fog is expected to be so dense in the morning and night that it will be difficult to see. If you are going on a distant trip in your car or bike on New Year, then try to start the journey only after the sun shines. Due to dense fog, it is certain that trains and flights will be affected.

The mercury will fall further in these districts including Patna

The minimum temperature in the capital Patna as well as in major districts like Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnia may go near 7-8 degrees Celsius. It will also be difficult to stay indoors due to icy winds. There are rumors of changes in school holidays and timings of government offices also. The local administration has given instructions to arrange bonfires at many places so that the needy can get some relief.

It may take a toll on your health

This harsh winter is quite challenging for children and the elderly. Doctors are advising to cover the head and ears well and avoid going out at night. Along with fog, the level of pollution in the air can also increase, so asthma or respiratory patients must use a mask.
