News India Live, Digital Desk: Now breaking traffic rules on the roads of Bihar is going to be heavy on your pocket. The State Transport Department has taken the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to curb road accidents and streamline the traffic system. Now ‘Integrated Traffic Management System’ (ITMS) will be deployed at 700 most risky and busy intersections of Bihar. The biggest feature of this hi-tech system is that as soon as the rules are broken, the message of e-challan will come directly on your mobile without any human intervention.
Sharp eye of third eye: Without helmet and tripling will be punished
This new system is not just a simple camera, but it is a ‘smart surveillance’ unit. These cameras are equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. If a driver jumps a red light, does not wear a helmet, does not use a seat belt in the car or rides with three people sitting on a bike, the system will immediately capture his photo. As soon as the vehicle number plate is scanned, the owner’s details will be extracted from the ‘Vahan’ database and the challan will be generated and delivered to the home within a few seconds.
Sealing will be done on 28th April: Speed traders will also be tightened
According to Transport Department Secretary Raj Kumar, an important meeting regarding this project is going to be held on April 28, which will be chaired by the Development Commissioner. In this meeting, the final decision will be taken on the implementation and technical aspects of the system. The system is specifically designed to curb ‘overspeeding’, which is the main cause of most road accidents in the state. These cameras will be installed on state and national highways as well as at the entry points of major cities.
Steps towards curbing corruption and transparent system
This AI based system will not only increase traffic discipline but will also eliminate scope for corruption and mutual debate. Now no policeman will stop you on the road, instead challan will be sent along with evidence (photos and videos) based on surveillance done through cameras. The aim of the Transport Department is to make the roads of Bihar safe through this technology and to fix accountability among the people towards traffic rules.
