The central and state governments are continuously taking major steps to strengthen the infrastructure and road network in Bihar. In this series, a big update has come out regarding the important highway project which will give a new pace to the development of North Bihar. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken steps towards land acquisition to convert the highway from Sitamarhi to Nepal border into four lane. With the commencement of this project, not only will the traffic become easier, but the fate of the farmers of the affected areas is also going to change completely.
NHAI prepared survey report, sent letter to zonal officers
Following the recent technical survey conducted by NHAI, identification of the areas where land is to be acquired for this four-lane road has been completed. In this regard, Project Director of NHAI Ashutosh Sinha has sent an official letter to the Circle Officers (CO) of the concerned areas, informing them about the entire situation and has directed to initiate further administrative action.
Under this ambitious project, land from mainly four areas will be acquired:
-
bochahan
-
Meenapur
-
Amla
-
Mushahari

Farmers will become millionaires overnight, industrial development will gain momentum
As soon as the process of land acquisition on this route starts, it will prove to be a big economic boon for the farmers and land owners of this entire area. All the farmers whose agricultural land or residential land comes under the scope of this four-lane project, will be given huge compensation as per the rules of the administration. Due to this compensation being given as per the market price, many farmers of the area can become millionaires overnight.
Apart from the money received in exchange for land, the construction of this four lane will also completely change the economic picture of the entire region:
-
Sharp rise in land prices: As soon as four-lane connectivity is achieved, the commercial rates of all the surrounding lands will increase rapidly.
-
Beginning of Industrial Development: Due to better connectivity, big investors will be attracted towards this area, which will pave the way for setting up new industries and factories.
-
New employment opportunities: From the start of construction work to the establishment of industries, local youth will get new means of employment on a large scale.
Trade and tourism will get new momentum with Nepal
At present, this entire road is only two-lane, due to which the problem of long queues of vehicles and traffic jams persists. Understanding this problem, the Central Government had sanctioned a huge amount of ₹ 2400 crore last year itself to upgrade it to four lane.
Far reaching impact of the project: Within the coming few years, when this gleaming four-lane road will be completely ready and dedicated to the public, the journey from Sitamarhi to Nepal border will become very easy, safe and time-saving. This will provide great convenience to the devotees and tourists coming to and from Nepal, which will give a new booster dose to the tourism industry of Bihar.
Along with this, there will be strong profits in cross-border bilateral trade. Easy movement of goods trucks will reduce logistics costs, which will increase new investment opportunities in the district and provide a strong base to the local economy.
