Nepal Note Printing: Chinese influence has become stronger in Nepal. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has given a big contract to the Chinese government company China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation for printing Rs 1000 notes. This contract includes design, printing, supply and distribution of 43 crore notes.

Bank officials gave this information. NRB issued a letter of intent to this company on Friday. The total cost of this project has been fixed at US $ 16.985 million. The company won this contract by quoting the lowest bid, due to which it was selected.

This company has already printed Nepali notes. It has printed notes of Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 100 and Rs 500. In the last three years, this Chinese company has won seven contracts to print Nepali bank notes, giving it a monopoly.

This development may affect Nepal’s economic self-reliance and international relations. Earlier, Nepal used to print notes from companies of Indonesia, France and Australia, but due to low cost, Chinese company is being given priority. This contract will save millions of dollars for Nepal.
