It is said in astrology that if someone worships the snake god on the day of Nag Panchami, then he does not die due to snake bite. Eight snakes are considered the deities of this fast. On this day, eight snakes named Anant, Vasuki, Padma, Mahapadma, Takshak, Kulir, Karkat and Shankh are worshipped. The snake god is worshipped with full rituals, which fulfills all the wishes.
