There is an outcry with the aggressive entry of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh. A big news is coming out from Badaun district amid the alert of heavy rain issued by the Meteorological Department (IMD) in Western and Central UP. In view of the continuous torrential rains and severe waterlogging since last two days, the district administration has taken a major step. Keeping in mind the safety of children, the District Magistrate (DM) of Badaun has issued an emergency order to keep all government, aided and private schools up to class 8 completely closed for the next two days. This continuous monsoon disaster has put a brake on the pace of the entire district.

Complete holiday in schools on 10th and 11th July: If rules are broken, strict legal action will be taken against school management.

Giving official information, District Basic Education Officer (BSA) of Badaun, Naveen Kumar said that on the special instructions of the District Magistrate, in view of the deteriorating weather conditions, holiday has been declared in all schools from class one to eight on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11. The Education Department has warned in a clear tone that schools of all boards should ensure strict compliance with this order. If any educational institution violates the rules and calls children to school, then strict legal action will be taken against them immediately under the Disaster Management Act.

However, a special administrative arrangement has also been made amid this monsoon holiday. BSA Naveen Kumar clarified that on Sunday, July 12, all schools will be compulsorily opened to make the state government’s ambitious ‘Major Plantation Campaign’ successful. On this day, all the teachers, students and their parents will come together and plant trees extensively in the school premises. To record the live progress and authenticity of these planted saplings, it will be mandatory to upload their photographs on social media and departmental WhatsApp groups by geotagging them on the government’s official ‘Haritma App’.

Record 197.75 mm torrential rain in 9 days in Badaun: drains overflowing, city streets submerged up to 2 feet

Talking about weather data, a record 197.75 mm rainfall has been recorded in Badaun within the first nine days of July, which is very close to the average rainfall of this month (268.50 MM). Till Thursday morning, 46.75 mm rainfall was recorded in the district and 57 mm rainfall was recorded in Badaun city alone. While on one hand people have got relief from the sultry heat due to this torrential rain, on the other hand the local electricity system has completely collapsed. Chowk drains have overflowed onto the main roads, due to which the major streets of the city including Gandhi Ground have been flooded with water up to two feet and people in rural areas are forced to remain confined to their homes.

Due to lack of proper drainage system, this monsoon rain has become a big problem for the general public. Water has accumulated in everything from the posh colonies of the city to the major commercial markets, due to which traders and common people have to suffer huge financial losses due to water entering inside hundreds of shops and houses. Talking about the agricultural sector, this rain has speeded up the work of transplanting paddy, but the standing crops of maize, green vegetables and tomato fields have suffered huge damage. This wastage has had a direct impact on the local markets, due to which there has been a sudden surge in the prices of green vegetables in the market.

Holiday declared in schools up to class 8th in Kanpur Dehat today: BSA issued order

Along with Badaun, the weather department’s warning of heavy rain is also having a major impact in Kanpur Dehat district of central Uttar Pradesh. In view of the strong possibility of torrential rains on July 10, Basic Education Officer of Kanpur Dehat, Ashish Kumar Pandey, has declared a one-day holiday today in schools of all boards (UP Board, CBSE, ICSE) from class 1 to 8 in view of the safety of the students. He said that the weather conditions are being monitored from moment to moment and no compromise will be made with the safety of the students.
