
Keshav Prasad Maurya addressed the ‘Taste of Uttar Pradesh Conclave’ organized at Ramansha, Naini, Prayagraj today. On this occasion, he honored the participants who have made significant contribution in spreading the local taste, traditional food and special dishes of Uttar Pradesh to the country and the world. Shri Maurya said that Uttar Pradesh has a unique identity in the entire country not only for its historical, cultural and spiritual heritage but also for its rich food traditions. The traditional dishes of different districts of the state are linked to their culture, agriculture, local resources and lifestyle. The ‘One District, One Cuisine’ initiative is an important step towards giving a new identity to the traditional taste and distinctive food of each district of Uttar Pradesh.
He said that the objective of this initiative is not only to promote local cuisine, but also to strengthen the local economy, create employment and self-employment opportunities and provide markets to small entrepreneurs, artisans and self-help groups of the state. When the special dish of a district gets a national and international market, its direct benefits reach the farmers, food processing entrepreneurs, women’s self-help groups, artisans and small businessmen associated with it.
Shri Maurya said that the identity of Uttar Pradesh is its villages, farmers, artisans, women and youth. The double engine government is continuously working to take the state to new heights by connecting these sections with the mainstream of development. The pace and scale at which development work has taken place in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was not achieved during the tenure of previous governments. Today, work is being done at a rapid pace in the fields of roads, railways, airports, digital connectivity, industry, employment, tourism and infrastructure facilities in the country.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has pledged before the country to make a developed India by 2047. This should not only be the goal of the government, but also the resolve of every citizen of the country. He said that the government alone cannot build a developed India. For this, farmers, labourers, traders, entrepreneurs, youth, women and every citizen of the society should play their role.
Calling upon the people present, he said, “The work of Shramdaan, service and nation building that we are doing today is not just for today. The Shramdaan done today will lay the foundation for a better future of your children.” We have to create such an India for the coming generations, where there is no dearth of opportunities, youth get employment and self-employment, women get the opportunity to become economically self-reliant and the talent of villages gets a global platform.
He said that women of self-help groups in Uttar Pradesh are doing excellent work in various fields. Women groups can also be linked to entrepreneurship by promoting them in the field of local food products and traditional cuisine. This will increase the income of rural women and strengthen the family as well as the economy of the village.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that it is the effort of the government that local taste becomes the medium of local employment and the traditional dishes of Uttar Pradesh become a part of the economic and cultural identity of the state. Appreciating the efforts of the participants in the conclave, he said that all the people who have brought the taste of Uttar Pradesh to the country and the world are brand ambassadors of the rich heritage of the state.
