Mamta Banerjee's tension increased, ultimatum to vacate the rented headquarters, building owner reached police station in anger

There is a tremendous upheaval in the politics of West Bengal at this time. On one hand, the news of rebellion of MLAs and division into two groups within Trinamool Congress (TMC) is continuously making headlines, while on the other hand, another very strange and big problem has arisen in front of party supremo and former Chief Minister of the state Mamata Banerjee. It is reported that the landlord of the luxurious building in Kolkata where the temporary national headquarters of TMC is currently running, has given a strict ultimatum to Mamata Banerjee’s party to vacate his property immediately. The matter was not limited to just the demand to vacate the place, but the building owner got angry and went straight to the police station to lodge a written complaint regarding this matter.

The agreement has ended in the year 2025, the promise till July was also broken

Montu Saha is the real owner of this famous property located on Canal South (A/P-1/A Canal South) Road, near EM Bypass, Kolkata. According to the Saha family, when the renovation work of TMC’s main office ‘Trinamool Bhawan’ started in the year 2022, the party shifted to this building. Earlier, the Saha family used to run a famous hotel named ‘Arab Residency’ here. Montu Saha claims that the rental agreement with TMC has completely expired by the end of 2025. For the last several months, he has been continuously pleading the senior leaders of the party to vacate his precious place, but he is not being listened to in front of the clout of power.

No leader came to talk, father and son knocked on the door of the police

Amidst this high-profile controversy over vacating the building, on Sunday Montu Saha suddenly arrived at his property along with his son Amit Saha. He wanted to sit face to face and have a final talk on this issue with the top TMC officials present there. But the surprising thing was that no responsible leader or official of TMC was present to talk in the party office. After waiting outside the office for several hours, the father-son duo ran out of patience and headed straight for the nearest police station, where they lodged an official complaint against the party.

"The party had promised till July, now they will expel him legally."

Amit Saha, son of building owner Montu Saha, expressed his anger while talking to the media, saying, ‘When our rental contract ended late last year, we respectfully approached the TMC leadership several times and asked for our building back. There is a large-scale renovation work to be done in this building and we are now in dire need of this space to further our personal business. Amit further said, ‘Initially the party leaders had promised us that they would vacate the entire building by July this year under any circumstances, but now they are going back on their promise. For some time now, no responsible person from the party has even been picking up the phone to talk on this serious issue. We are left with no other option but to seek refuge in the police and the court.

TMC leader’s counterattack – ‘No favor was done by paying rent’

When the media contacted a local prominent TMC leader on this entire matter, he gave a controversial statement completely rejecting the allegations of the building owner. The TMC leader hit back and said that Montu Saha has not done any social service or favor by renting out his property to the party. He claimed that in return of giving this property on rent, the Saha family has been given many big and profitable contracts by the government and the party, from which they have earned huge money.

Rebel MLA Javed Khan stakes claim on real ‘Trinamool Bhavan’

The troubles for TMC do not end here. On one hand, there is pressure to vacate the rented building, while on the other hand, a war has broken out within the party over the ownership rights of ‘Trinamool Bhawan’, the real and permanent headquarters of TMC located on Topsia Road. Rebel TMC MLA Javed Khan has given sleepless nights to the party leadership by staking his claim on this main building. Javed Khan clearly says that the Topsia Road plot on which the grand Trinamool building stands is actually the ancestral land of his grandfathers and great-grandfathers. The rebel MLA openly challenged the media and said, ‘I have all the solid legal documents and evidence from the court and government offices, which prove that this entire plot of Topsia Road legally belongs to my family only.’
