The political temperature of West Bengal has once again reached its peak. The ongoing political fight between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now taken to the streets. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced a major dharna in Kolkata in protest against the recent attacks on TMC workers and party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
However, Kolkata Police has clearly refused to give green signal to this demonstration. Despite this, Mamata Banerjee is firm on her decision and has made it clear that she will sit on strike at Rani Rasmani Road under any circumstances.
On which issues is Mamata Banerjee in a cross mood?
Mamata Banerjee alleged that the entire environment of Bengal has been changed and the general public as well as small traders are currently living under the shadow of fear. He has based this movement on several key issues:
-
Issue of street vendors: Poor shopkeepers and street vendors are being removed by the Railways without any proper rehabilitation scheme.
-
Attacks on workers: Since the assembly elections, 12 TMC workers have lost their lives and thousands have been put in jail.
-
NEET exam rigging: She will also raise her voice against the alleged irregularities and irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Internal crisis within TMC and rebellion of MLAs
Amidst the external political battle, Mamata Banerjee is also struggling with a huge conflict within her party. On Monday, a very important meeting of TMC MLAs was called at Mamata Banerjee’s residence. But the surprising thing was that out of total 80 MLAs of the party, only 20 MLAs came to participate in this meeting.
This low presence has given rise to discussions that many big TMC leaders are preparing to change sides.
“People without ideology cannot set conditions for us”
Referring to BJP leader and Bengal Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari, Mamata Banerjee said that she had known his family for a very long time, which is why she had promoted him in politics. He made a big claim and said that a message had been sent to him from inside. It has been said in this message that if Abhishek Banerjee is removed from the leadership of TMC, then some rebel leaders may come back to the party.
Mamata Banerjee’s blunt advice:
“I recognize the nature of these people very well. Those who do not have any political ideology or principles of their own, they cannot put any kind of conditions before us. Those who are changing sides after being in office for years for personal interest and to get the cream, I do not care if their departure. Rather, it is good that the garbage has been cleared, now we will restructure the party with new and loyal faces.”
Sharp jibe at turncoat leaders
Targeting MLA Ritabrata Banerjee, who was recently expelled from the party, he said that when CPI (M) had expelled her in 2017, they had made the biggest mistake by including Ritabrata in their party. Mamta said that he came to her and cried and fell at her feet, due to which he was given a chance by canceling the tickets of others. But today he betrayed the voters and the party who elected him. The TMC chief made it clear that after recovering from this crisis, his party will emerge stronger than before.
