Mokama’s strongman in Bihar politics and veteran Janata Dal United (JDU) MLA Anant Singh alias ‘Chhote Sarkar’ has once again got a big relief from the judiciary. The special MP-MLA court of Gopalganj, while hearing a criminal case, has extended the deadline of interim stay on the arrest of MLA Anant Singh till June 5. On Saturday, there was vigorous debate from both sides on the main points of Anant Singh’s anticipatory bail petition in the court. Considering the seriousness of the case, the court has fixed June 5 for the next hearing, and till then has maintained a complete ban on police action or arrests. Co-accused in the case and famous Bhojpuri singer Gunjan Singh has also directly benefited from this decision, who has got relief from the court.
Know what is the whole controversy and why FIR was registered against Bahubali MLA?
This whole matter happened in the beginning of this month, when a video went viral very fast on social media. According to the information, on May 2, a program was organized in Semrao village under Mirganj police station area of Gopalganj district. During the event, a video of openly displaying modern weapons, waving them in the air and performing extremely obscene songs from the stage had surfaced. The presence of MLA Anant Singh and Bhojpuri singer Gunjan Singh was mentioned in the video. After this video became public on social media, there was a stir in the district administration, immediately after which an FIR was registered under relevant sections in the local Mirganj police station. Considering the sensitivity of the case and the high-profile accused, the command of this case has now been handed over to the state intelligence agency CID, which is investigating it thoroughly.
The government lawyer strongly opposed the relief in the court, the defense side gave this argument
On Saturday, when the hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of Anant Singh started in the special MP-MLA court of Gopalganj, a heated argument was seen between the two parties in the court room. MLA Anant Singh’s senior advocate Rajesh Pandey argued strongly before the court that the stay on the arrest of his client should be maintained at all costs till the next hearing of the case. On the other hand, the public prosecutor representing the state government strongly opposed this relief. The government lawyer argued before the court that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report of the viral video has not yet been received by the investigating agency, hence no judicial relief should be given to the accused.
The court upheld the old decision, now the next legal battle will take place on June 5.
Responding to the arguments of the government lawyer, Anant Singh’s lawyer Rajesh Pandey reminded the court that during the last hearing itself, after assessing the circumstances, the court had given an interim stay on the arrest of the MLA till May 30, which is very important to be extended in the interest of justice. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the honorable court found a middle path and decided to keep its previous order intact. Now the next detailed hearing of this high-profile case will be held on June 5, where based on the links and forensic reports collected by the CID, a legal battle will be seen once again between the two sides.
