News India Live, Digital Desk: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. BJP MLA and former minister from Bahraich Sadar during a protest on Saturday (25 April 2026) Anupama Jaiswal Got seriously burnt. This accident happened when she was burning the effigies of opposition party leaders. The flames that suddenly erupted in the effigy engulfed the MLA, causing serious injuries on his face and parts of his body.
How did the accident happen?
According to the information, the protest was being held outside the Collectorate under the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ program organized by BJP Mahila Morcha. MLA Anupama Jaiswal along with other workers was burning the effigies of opposition leaders.
Flames erupted suddenly: As soon as the effigy was set on fire, the flames suddenly rose rapidly due to the flammable substance used in it (probably diesel or petrol).
The face came in JD: The MLA was standing very close to the effigy, due to which the flames reached her face and neck. Immediately after the incident, there was chaos and the policemen hurriedly took him to the medical college in their car.

According to medical college doctors, MLA Anupama Jaiswal’s face is almost 4 percent Has been burnt.
Experts monitoring: A special team of surgeons and dermatologists is engaged in his treatment. It is a matter of relief that his condition is currently said to be stable and he has been shifted to a private ward.
Minister in charge reached the hospital: As soon as information about the accident was received, district in-charge minister Surya Pratap Shahi, DM and SP and many top officials reached the medical college and inquired about the well being of the MLA.

This incident has raised serious questions on the security exercised in activities like burning of effigies during public demonstrations. Eyewitnesses say that the quantity of inflammable substance in the effigy was high, due to which the fire went out of control. At present, the police is investigating the matter whether it was just an accident or there was a major security lapse.
