This weather is proving to be a deception for the people living in Lucknow. On one hand, the bright sunshine during the day and the rosy cold of morning and evening are making the mind happy, while on the other hand, the city air has become the biggest enemy of your health. The maximum temperature on Friday was 33 degrees Celsius, but behind this pleasant weather is hidden a dangerous level of pollution.
Respiratory crisis: Air becomes most poisonous of the season
The report of the Pollution Control Board has increased the concern. On Friday (October 17), the air in Lucknow reached its worst level of this season. In the morning, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 160 at six monitoring stations in the city, which falls in the ‘moderate’ category and can be dangerous for sensitive people.
These areas are the most polluted:
- Talkatora Industrial Area: 199 (close to poor range)
- Gomtinagar: 194
- Ambedkar University: 175
- Lalbagh: 155
- Aliganj: 139
It is a matter of relief that Kukrail area was in a better condition than these areas with AQI of 106.
Why is this a threat and what will happen next?
Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh has warned that this problem may increase further in the coming days. He told that due to clear sky and slow wind speed, pollution particles are accumulating low in the atmosphere. There is a fear that the air level may become even more dangerous after the fireworks on Diwali.
How to protect yourself?
In view of increasing pollution, experts have advised to take some important precautions:
- Mask is the only support: Wear a mask whenever you go out of the house, especially in crowded areas.
- Keep drinking water: Keep drinking water little by little throughout the day, so that the body remains hydrated and the effect of pollution particles is reduced.
- Avoid morning walk: People who go for exercise or a walk in the park or open space in the morning and evening should avoid doing so for a few days, because the level of pollution is highest at this time.
- Don’t ignore these problems: If you are having trouble breathing, eye irritation or skin problems, do not take it lightly.
How will the weather be tomorrow (18 October)?
On Saturday too, Lucknow will be sunny during the day and the maximum temperature will remain around 33 degrees. The minimum temperature at night is expected to be 22 degrees Celsius, due to which the pink cold of morning and evening will continue. The weather will be pleasant, but there will be concerns over air quality.
