News India Live, Digital Desk: While millions of homes are celebrating after the release of 10th and 12th results by Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), there are some students who have not been able to perform as per expectations or have failed in one or two subjects. But remember, one result cannot decide your future. Bihar Government and Education Department have made available many life-saving options for such students, which can save their entire year from being wasted. If you are also in this situation, then this news is for you only.

Option 1: Scrutiny if you are confident in your marks

If you feel that you have given very good exam but got less marks or you have failed in any subject, then ‘Scrutiny’ is the first option. Under this, you can apply for re-checking of your answer sheets. Bihar Board will soon activate the link for scrutiny on the official website. You can get your copy re-checked by depositing a fixed fee per subject. Many times students pass by correcting calculation mistakes.

Option 2: Compartmental Exam – Chance to pass this year

‘Compartmental Examination’ is the biggest help for those students who have failed in one or two subjects. Bihar Board conducts supplementary examinations especially for such students. Its biggest advantage is that if you pass this exam, you will be considered passed in this session (2026) and you will be able to take further studies or take admission in college. For this, the board starts the application process only a few days after the result.

Option 3: NIOS and Open Schooling – Flexible Learning Path

If a student does not succeed even in compartmental or has failed in more subjects, then National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) or Bihar Board of Open Schooling (BBOSE) is a great option. Here the facility of ‘Transfer of Credit’ (TOC) is available, that is, the marks of the subjects in which you have passed will be added here and you will have to appear only for the failed subjects. Open School degree is completely valid and through it you can appear for any competitive examination in future.

Expert advice: don’t give up, start fresh

Education experts say failure is just a sign that we need to work harder. Bihar Board students now have so many career options that their paths are not closed just because of low marks in an exam. Students can also enroll in technical or professional courses by taking advantage of the ‘Student Credit Card’ scheme. There is also an appeal to parents that instead of pressurizing their children, they should tell them about these options and boost their mental morale.
