Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family holds grand gathering in Ghaziabad on Tejashwi Yadav’s son Iraj’s first birthday

Today is the first birthday of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo and former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav and grandson of former CM Rabri Devi i.e. ‘Iraj Lalu Yadav’, son of Bihar’s powerful leader Tejashwi Yadav. On this special occasion, today i.e. on Wednesday (27 May 2026), a very grand and high-profile birthday party (Jalsa) has been organized in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to Delhi. The entire Lalu family is gathering in Delhi-NCR to attend the first birthday celebration of Tejashwi’s son. However, amidst this family and political mega gathering, everyone’s curious eyes are fixed on Tejashwi’s ‘Singapore aunt’ Rohini Acharya and ‘elder father’ Tej Pratap Yadav. This party is being seen as a big litmus test for the Lalu family amid the infighting in the family and reports of expulsion after the recent Bihar assembly elections.

Named after Lord Hanuman, a gathering will be organized in Ghaziabad

Iraj, son of Tejashwi Yadav and Rajshri, was born on May 27 last year in Kolkata. When he was born, coincidentally it was ‘Bada Tuesday’, due to which grandfather Lalu Prasad Yadav named his grandson ‘Iraj’ after Lord Hanuman.

Ghaziabad was chosen for this grand birthday celebration because it is the in-laws house of Lalu Yadav’s fourth daughter Ragini Yadav. Ragini’s husband Rahul Yadav and her father-in-law Jitendra Yadav are veteran leaders of Samajwadi Party (SP) and Jitendra Yadav has also been an MLC from SP. Rajlakshmi Yadav, the youngest daughter of the Lalu family, is also married into the family of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav (grandson of his brother Tej Pratap Singh Yadav), leading to a deep kinship between the two political houses. This grand birthday party of Iraj was organized near Ragini Yadav’s residence in Ghaziabad.

Invitation to opposition stalwarts: Preparation for show of strength through Lalu Yadav’s ‘Birthday Diplomacy’

Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, who are on the back foot on the political front after the crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, are preparing to use this family event as a big show of strength.

There are intense discussions in the political circles that many top leaders of ‘India Alliance’ have been invited on the pretext of this birthday party. The guest list includes the names of many prominent opposition leaders of the country including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal. After the defeat in the elections, this is a great opportunity for Lalu Yadav to bring the opposition on one platform and show his political strength.

Lalu family’s ‘civil war’: Will Tej Pratap and Rohini Acharya enter?

Amidst this celebration, the bitter internal dispute (family civil war) going on within the Lalu family is making the biggest headlines. Of Lalu Yadav’s 9 children, the equation of elder son Tej Pratap Yadav and daughter Rohini Acharya is not going well at all with Tejashwi Yadav.

  • Expulsion of Tej Pratap Yadav: Last year, on the charge of making public some sensitive family matters and statements related to Anushka Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav took a tough stance and ousted his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav from both the family and the party (RJD). After this, Tej Pratap, showing rebellious attitude, formed his own party and also contested the assembly elections.

  • Controversy with Rohini Acharya: The controversy surrounding Rohini Acharya, the daughter of Rohini Acharya, who lives in Singapore and donated a kidney to Lalu Yadav, also came to the fore after the elections. After RJD’s crushing defeat in Bihar elections, there was a heated debate during the review at Rabri Devi’s official residence. It is alleged that Rohini had put the blame of the defeat on Tejashwi’s most important advisors and party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, due to which Tejashwi got angry.

Rohini cried at Patna airport, the battle for inheritance will be decided today

Remembering that high-voltage drama that took place after the elections, the political circles are still hot with discussions. Then Rohini Acharya had cried in front of the media at Patna airport and had emotionally alleged that when she mentioned the real reasons for the defeat (taking the names of Sanjay Yadav and Rameez), she was abused inside the house and allegedly even an attempt was made to hit her with slippers, after which she had to come out of the Rabri residence crying and she had said that she had been thrown out of the family.

In such a situation, the entire country’s political eyes are on Iraj’s birthday party to be held in Ghaziabad today. Today it will become clear whether the relationship between elder father Tej Pratap Yadav and aunt Rohini Acharya has been patched up with Tejashwi on the pretext of nephew’s birthday, or this war of inheritance and supremacy is going to continue in this most influential ‘first political family’ of Bihar.
