News India Live, Digital Desk: Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has announced a big change for lakhs of students of the state. Till now, the board examinations of class 8th, 9th and 11th were taken in objective mode (multiple choice) on OMR sheet, but now this system will change from 2026. From the next session 2026-27, the examinations of these three classes will be completely in written format. This decision is being considered an important step towards children’s education and strengthening their basic abilities. ‘JAC Board Exam Update’ is important for all students.

Why was this big decision taken?

Education experts and JAC Board officials have long felt that the objective (multiple choice) examination pattern alone is not developing the ‘writing ability’ of students properly. Children place more emphasis on memorization and do not know the art of writing their thoughts properly. This was not only affecting their further studies (like written exams of 10th and 12th) but also left them behind in competitive exams, where writing skills play an important role. There are many ‘benefits of written examination’, which lead to all-round development of the students.

This change will encourage students to move away from rote learning and develop a deeper understanding of the subjects and express them in their own words. This will also prepare them better for class 10th and 12th board exams.

How will the exam pattern change from 2026?

  • Type of questions: These examinations will now include multiple choice questions as well as short answer and long answer questions, so that students will get a chance to express their ideas in detail.
  • Exam Preparation: Students now have to practice correct grammar, word choice and building sentences effectively, instead of just tick-marking.

This change is an important initiative towards improving the quality of education and enabling the students of Jharkhand to compete at the national level. This effort of ‘education reform in Jharkhand’ will help in making the future of children bright. This news of ‘JAC Board Pattern Change’ is also important for parents and teachers, so that they can prepare their children according to the new pattern in time.

Now OMR based examination will continue:

It is important to note that this change will be applicable from the academic session 2026-27. This means that ‘JAC 8th, 9th and 11th exams in 2025’ will still be OMR sheet based. Students will have enough time to prepare and adapt to the new pattern.

Overall, this decision of JAC is a positive step, which will help in raising the level of education in Jharkhand and preparing the students for a better future. The future of ‘school education in Jharkhand’ can be bright with this change.
