News India Live, Digital Desk: We often say that sports and politics should be kept separate, but sometimes situations become such that both come in each other’s way. IPL fans, and especially Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) A slightly disappointing news has come for the fans.

The news is that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informally indicated to the KKR management that they would like to sign their Bangladeshi fast bowler. Mustafizur Rahman Release him from the team.

Why did this happen suddenly?

Mustafizur Rahman, who we fondly call ‘Fizz’, is one of the best bowlers in the world. KKR chose him to strengthen their bowling line-up. But, in recent times, political relations between India and Bangladesh have become quite strained. The tension on the borders and the sourness in diplomatic relations has now reached the corridors of cricket.

If sources are to be believed, BCCI does not want to take any kind of risk. When the atmosphere between two countries is so heated, such decisions have to be taken keeping in mind the safety of the players and the sentiments of the country.

old wounds become fresh

Hearing this news, old cricket fans must have remembered the era of 2008 when Pakistani players were banned from IPL after the Mumbai attacks. From then till today Pakistani players are not able to play IPL. Now looking at the increasing tension with Bangladesh, it seems that perhaps history is repeating itself.

Big trouble for KKR

This is a headache for KKR. All the hard work of the auction goes waste when one of your key bowlers is out before the tournament even starts. The team will now have to find his replacement, which is not so easy.

What are the fans thinking?

Being a cricket fan, we definitely feel bad that we will not be able to see a good player in action. Mustafizur has good IPL experience and could prove to be a trump card for KKR. But, when it comes to the country and security, the cricket board and the franchise have to take strict steps.

Now it remains to be seen which player KKR includes in the team in place of Mustafizur. Do you think sports should be kept away from all this?
