Hamirpur, 04 August (HS). The ambitious HP Shiva project of the Himachal Pradesh government is bringing fruit plants in many villages of low altitude areas of the state. These villages, which used to produce only traditional crops like wheat, maize and paddy, are now moving towards horticulture due to the HP Shiva project. Now Jhinjhakri, a village of Hamirpur district, is also going to be added to the list of these villages.
With the help of HP Shiva project, plantation of guava plants has been started this season on about one hectare of land of about 27 farmers of Jhinjhakri village. All the work from preparing the land for plantation and fencing to plantation and irrigation management is being done free of cost through HP Shiva project.
Hemraj, a progressive farmer of the village, says that the HP Shiva project has shown a new path to the villagers. He said that the officials of the Horticulture Department and the HP Shiva project informed the farmers of the village about the various facilities available under the project and encouraged them to take full advantage of it.
After getting information about the HP Shiva project, a total of 27 farmers of the village including Hemraj decided to plant guava gardens on their land. After this, the work of land leveling, fencing and irrigation from the check dam of the village was done through the project. Planting of guava plants has also been started here this season.
On the other hand, Deputy Director of Horticulture Department, Dr. Rajeshwar Parmar said that under the HP Shiva project, a target has been set to plant fruit trees on 834 hectares of land in 65 clusters in Hamirpur district. In this series, in village Jhinjhakri, land has been prepared to plant guava garden on about one hectare of land and plantation has also been started in this season.
Now the day is not far when the small village Jhinjhakri of Hamirpur district will also be full of guava gardens.
