News India Live, Digital Desk: Test Cricket: India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is out of the fifth and final Test match against England at the Oval. In his place, fast bowler Akash Deep will be included in the Indian team. The medical team of BCCI, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, has taken this important decision keeping in mind the long -term target of managing the workload of Bumrah and keeping their back safe.
This decision has not been taken suddenly, as it was already decided between the medical team, Indian team management and the selectors that Bumrah would play only three of the five Tests on the England tour. Bumrah has already played the first in Leeds in this series, third in Lord’s and fourth in Manchester, while he took rest from the second Test in Edgbaston.
Bumrah’s performance in the series has been excellent so far, he has taken 14 wickets, who is the second most wicket -taking bowler in the series. However, the fourth Test played in Manchester saw a decrease in his bowling speed, where the percentage of his balls of more than 140 km/h fell down from 42.7% to only 0.5% of the headingley. Akash Deep, who was out due to the injury of the groin in the fourth Test, is fully fit to replace Bumrah. Akash Deep performed an impressive performance with 10 wickets in the second Test held at Edgbaston. His return will give the necessary strength to Team India’s fast bowling, especially with Mohammad Siraj.
