Is Indonesia jealous after seeing India’s friendship? Told my heart to Putin:

Posts

News India Live, Digital Desk: Today let’s talk about a news of international politics which is a little serious and also a little funny. The whole world knows that Russian President Vladimir Putin rarely travels abroad these days. Due to the restrictions of Western countries and America and the warrant of ICC (International Court), he visits only a few friends. And whose name is at the top in the list of those friends? Of our India.

But now it seems that seeing this deep friendship between India and Russia, other countries are also getting inspired. Recently, during his meeting with Putin, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said something which has made headlines. He jokingly made a ‘complaint’ to Putin and also extended an invitation.

Let us understand in simple language what the matter is and what the diplomacy behind it says.

What was that joke? (The Joke with a Message)

When Indonesia’s newly elected President Prabowo met Putin in Moscow, the atmosphere was quite friendly. During the conversation, Prabowo invited Putin to visit Indonesia. But his style of inviting was very interesting.

He said, “India should not be the only country you can go to.”

It sounds like a simple joke, but its meaning is very deep. In fact, Prabowo was trying to say that “Mr. Putin, we know that you cannot go to America or Europe, and India is your true friend where you go without any worries. But we (Indonesia) also want to be your good friends. Our doors are also open for you.”

Why was the name of India taken?

This is a matter of pride for all of us Indians. India’s status in global politics today is such that even when the whole world tried to isolate Putin, India remained adamant on its independent foreign policy. PM Modi also expressed friendship and talked about peace.

Indonesia now wants to adopt this model. Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world and also an emerging economy. They are seeing that if India can buy oil from Russia and maintain friendship without coming under American pressure, then why should Indonesia lag behind?

The real message behind it (The Real Game)

This small joke and meeting gives three big messages to the world:

  1. Russia is not isolated: No matter how much the West shouts that Russia has been “left alone”, the truth is that Asia’s major powerhouses (India, China, and now Indonesia) are allied with Russia.
  2. Asia is a master of her own will: Be it India or Indonesia, now Asian countries are taking their own decisions. They are not looking at what will be thought in Washington or London. They need arms, energy, and food security from Russia—and they are joining hands to get it.
  3. Clear the way for Putin: Indonesia is not a member of the ICC (like India). This means that if Putin goes there, there will be no legal threat of arresting him. By extending this invitation, Indonesia made it clear that it would treat Putin as a VIP guest and not as a wanted person.
