Dublin, May 14 (HS). Cricket Ireland on Monday officially confirmed the first men's tour of Pakistan in August and September next year. Ireland and Pakistan will play three T20Is and three ODIs on this tour, which is a part of the scheduled Future Tours Program (FTP).
Cricket Ireland's release made no detailed mention of dates and venues, or any other details regarding the tour programme.
The decision was finalized after PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met Cricket Ireland Chairman Brain McNeice. The PCB had initially issued a statement confirming that Ireland would also play a Test series in Pakistan, which was not part of the FTP.
“The Chairman of Cricket Ireland said that the Irish team will tour Pakistan for a Test series in August-September next year and will also review the possibility of the women's team touring Pakistan soon,” the PCB statement said.
Hours after the PCB's release, Cricket Ireland released an official statement on its website regarding Naqvi's meeting with McNeice. In which it was said that after extensive discussion, both the boards have agreed for the men's tour next year.
Pakistan men's team is currently in Ireland to participate in the three-match T20 series. The series between the two teams is tied at 1-1, with the deciding match to be played this evening.
