Proud Moment: Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla completed the first week on ISS, family becomes emotional

News India Live, Digital Desk: Proud Moment: We all know how amazing and thrilling space travel is. But do you know, even after going to such a height, what does an astronaut remember the most? Your family! Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who is one of the first astronauts selected for India’s ambitious Gaganyaan Mission, recently proved this to be true. Shubhanshu completed his first week on the International Space Station (ISS) and spoke to his family by talking to his family on an off-duty (holiday). This moment was very emotional and memorable for him and his family as well.

A week in space, and then to ‘loved ones’:
Last week, Shubhanshu Shukla and three other fellow astronauts have completed the first week on ISS under the training program of ‘Gagarin Cosmonott Training Center’. All four are the Indian astronauts selected for the ‘Gaganyaan’ mission, who are currently at the last stop of their training. On Saturday, when Shubhanshu was on off-duty, he got a chance to talk to his parents and wife on a video call.

In this conversation of about 20–25 minutes, Shubhanshu shared his first week of experiences on ISS with his parents and wife. The enthusiasm of staying in space on his face during the call, as well as a little nostalgia (memory of the house) was clearly visible. The family has also shared a small video of this call on social media, which went viral on seeing it.

Family love and pride:
Shubhanshu’s mother, Mrs. Sneh Shukla, while talking to the media, said, “I was very happy to talk to my son and to see him in space. My mind was getting a little depressed too, but I kept my tears stopped.” For a mother, how proud and anxiety this moment must have been a mixed feeling, it can be easily understood.

At the same time, his father, Mr. Gyanesh Shukla said, “Our son Shubhanshu Shukla has completed 1 week at the International Space Station (ISS) and has talked to his family.” What can be a great pleasure for a father to fulfill the son’s dream! Shubhanshu’s wife, Anu Shukla, who is also in the Air Force himself, also wished Shubhanshu on this occasion and told how difficult it is to balance between private and professional life in such a difficult profession.

How does the house feel from space?
On the call, Shubhanshu told the family that the direction in space has no meaning, everything is weightless. Seeing the amazing view of the earth, stars and the vast form of the universe, they remain speechless. But despite this, he also felt the tightness of staying away from his country and family. This is the story of an Indian pilot that has not only touched the sky, but has also given a new height to our country in space research. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already targeted to go to the moon by 2040 and build his space station by 2035, and in such a situation, Jambaz like Shubhanshu will play an important role in fulfilling this dream of India.
