India: Do not touch the feet of today’s leaders, they are not worthy: Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Wednesday that he is very good with the blessings of his parents and uncle and asked his party workers not to touch the feet of today’s politicians as they are not worth it.

Pawar made these comments while addressing a rally of the Youth Branch of the Nationalist Congress Party in Beed. Pawar was on a day trip to Beed. The NCP president also reprimanded the party workers who garlanded him, presented souvenirs and wearing shawls during his visit. He said, “Don’t give me anything.” I just want your love and respect. Don’t touch me. Today’s politicians are not worth being crushed. I am doing well with the blessings of my parents and uncle. I need your love and mutual respect. It is noteworthy that Ajit Pawar led the rebellion in the NCP established by his uncle Sharad Pawar in 1999 and divided the party into two parts. In July 2023, Ajit Pawar separated from the party with the support of most of the MLAs of the party and joined the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition government and became Deputy Chief Minister in the state government. The Election Commission handed over the NCP election symbol to Ajit Pawar due to the majority of party MLAs in the 2024 state assembly elections. Among the 57 seats which contested under the alliance, Ajit Pawar’s party won 41 seats.
