IND vs AFG ODI: Stir in Team India amid the first ODI in Dharamshala; this lethal fast bowler to join the squad suddenly! IND vs AFG ODI: Panic in Team India during the first ODI in Dharamshala, this deadly fast bowler will suddenly join the team!

After the thrill of the only Test match played between India and Afghanistan, now the trumpet of three-match ODI series between the two teams has been sounded. The first match of this series is being played today, Saturday, June 13, at the beautiful Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala. While the Indian team has come on the field with the intention of winning this match and taking the lead in the series, just before the start of this match, a very good news has come out from the corridors of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the fans of Team India. According to the latest media reports and updates, BCCI has made up its mind to include a very lethal and fast bowler in the squad of the Indian team before the last and third ODI of the series.

According to a report in an English newspaper (TOI), Indian cricket selectors want to bring Delhi paceman Harshit Rana back into the main team before the final match against Afghanistan. This match is to be played on the ground of Chennai. The selectors and the team management are trying their best to get Harshit Rana back into the environment of international cricket and the discipline of the dressing room as soon as possible. Under this strategy, the board has surprised everyone by suddenly taking this big decision.

Harshit’s litmus test is going on in the Center of Excellence

A highly placed source of BCCI has shared many important information regarding Harshit Rana’s fitness and his return to the team. The source said that the team management actually wanted to keep Harshit with the team from the beginning of this series, but later after a long discussion it was decided that he needs to practice hard for a few more days at the National Cricket Academy i.e. Center of Excellence (CoE), so that there is no stone left unturned in his bowling.

It is a matter of relief that Harshit is currently bowling 9 to 10 overs continuously in the nets every day in Bengaluru and the most important thing is that he has been completely successful in getting back his old edge and intensity. Along with bowling, he is also sweating a lot to further improve his batting. There is every possibility that on June 17, the doctors and physios of the Center of Excellence will officially declare him completely fit, after which he will fly to Chennai and join the Indian team.

This all-rounder is returning to settle his injury score for T20 World Cup 2026

Harshit Rana, just 24 years old, is a very talented and modern fast bowler. He not only knows how to uproot the stumps of the batsmen with his stormy balls, but also has the ability to hit long sixes in the lower order and perform match-winning batting. This is the main reason why the Indian selectors have always taken a big bet on this young player. This young fast bowler was also an important part of the 2026 Indian T20 World Cup team, but unfortunately, he got badly injured during a practice session just before the start of the mega tournament. Due to this serious injury, he had to be ruled out of the World Cup and since then he has not played any international match for the country.

Now the biggest and relieving news for Indian fans is that Harshit Rana is not only fit, but is also fully prepared to wreak havoc on the field. Seeing his talent, BCCI has given him a place in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 series against Ireland and England as well as the Asian Games. If we look at Harshit’s international career so far, he has taken 4 wickets in 2 Test matches, 26 wickets in 14 ODI matches and 9 wickets in 9 T20 International matches. He also has a brilliant half-century to his name in ODI cricket, which testifies to his being an excellent all-rounder.

The current Indian ODI squad for the Afghanistan series is as follows:

Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey. (Harshit Rana will join this list before the third ODI).
