News India Live, Digital Desk: A very surprising incident has come to light from Chapra (Saran) district of Bihar, which has exposed the claims of prohibition in the state. A car coming at a high speed, which was fully loaded with a consignment of illegal liquor, crushed a young man badly. In this tragic accident the young man died on the spot. After the incident, when the angry villagers searched the car, their anger reached the seventh heaven after seeing liquor bottles in it. People registered their protest by breaking liquor bottles on the road in front of the police.
The havoc of speed and the dark game of alcohol
According to eyewitnesses, this accident happened near Rivilganj police station area of Chapra. The speed of the car was so high that the driver lost control and hit the young man standing on the roadside. Immediately after the accident, the smugglers in the car managed to escape from the spot. When the locals ran to help, they were stunned to see hundreds of bottles of foreign liquor inside the car. People allege that transportation of such a large quantity of liquor is not possible without the connivance of the police.
Street fighting: People surrounded the administration
The crowd enraged by the accident completely blocked the Chhapra-Siwan main road. Angry people took out liquor bottles from the car and started breaking them on the road. The road was filled with the smell of alcohol and pieces of glass. As soon as the information was received, the police from the local police station reached the spot, but had to retreat due to the anger of the villagers. People remained adamant on demanding compensation for the family of the deceased and immediate arrest of liquor smugglers.
Assurance of police action and investigation
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, senior police officers reached the spot and tried to pacify the people. The police have taken the damaged car into their custody and the smugglers are being identified on the basis of the vehicle number. Chhapra SP said that investigation will also be done against the policemen who were negligent in this matter. At present, heavy police force has been deployed in the area to keep the situation under control.
Questions raised again on liquor ban in Bihar
This incident has once again raised big questions on the implementation of the prohibition law in Bihar. Local people say that liquor carts run at such high speed every day, due to which the lives of common people remain in danger. On one hand, the government talks about drug-free Bihar, while on the other hand, the liquor carts running like death are a slap on the vigilance of the administration.
