News India Live, Digital Desk: The mysterious death of a promising NEET student from Bihar, which has shocked the entire state, will now be investigated from the CBI headquarters in Delhi. On the recommendation of Bihar government, the Center has handed over the case to the country’s largest investigating agency. On Saturday (28 March 2026), the special team of CBI reached Patna and took the case diary and the evidence so far from the local police.
Main focus of CBI investigation: Murder or suicide?
In the initial investigation, the local police had termed it as ‘suicide’, but the family members of the deceased student have made serious allegations of ‘ragging’ and ‘torture’. CBI will now investigate these 3 points in depth:
CDR and Digital Evidence: ‘Forensic recovery’ of the last calls and WhatsApp chats of the student’s mobile will be done.
Questioning classmates and hostel warden: The team from Delhi will re-record the statements of all those who were in contact with the student at the time of the incident.
Review of post mortem report: The post-mortem report will be reviewed with the help of experts from AIIMS, Delhi, so that the truth about the injury marks can be revealed.
Family plea: “We want justice”
The father of the deceased student said emotionally, “My son wanted to serve the society by becoming a doctor. He could never commit suicide. We did not trust the local investigation, but now there is hope from the CBI that they will send my son’s culprits behind the bars.”
Is there any link to NEET exam pressure?
The investigating agencies are also investigating this aspect whether the student was under pressure from any ‘coaching mafia’ or any ‘racket’ related to the examination? In view of the unpleasant incidents that have happened with NEET candidates in Bihar in the last few years, CBI does not want to ignore this angle.
Next step: Special team will camp in Patna
This CBI team will camp in Patna for the next 10 days. The team will also visit the hostel where the student’s body was found. ‘Crime Scene Recreation’ of the incident site can also be done so that the links of death can be linked.
