A very painful and heart-wrenching news is coming out from Belgium in Europe. In a horrific accident here on Tuesday morning, a speeding high-speed train hit a school minibus loaded with innocent children. This collision was so severe that in the blink of an eye the bus was completely destroyed and it was completely transformed into a heap of debris and broken junk. In this tragic accident, four people including two innocent children have died on the spot, while many other children are struggling between life and death. As soon as the news of the accident was received, there was an uproar in the entire country and a large number of emergency rescue and medical teams were immediately sent to the spot.
Accident happened at level crossing of Bugenhout village, investigation started
According to the information received, this horrific accident occurred at around 8.08 am at a railway level crossing located in the village of Buggenhout in northern Belgium. It is being told that this minibus was carrying children with special needs towards their school.
According to initial investigation and eyewitnesses, at the time of the accident, the safety barrier of the railway crossing was completely down and the red light was burning, but despite this the bus came on the track. Then the intercity train passing by at a speed of about 120 kilometers per hour hit the bus. The train was supposed to stop at the next station, just a kilometer away from the accident site, but due to the high speed, the train could not stop on time despite the driver applying emergency brakes.
7 children were traveling in the minibus, the debris was surrounded with a tent
According to the official statement issued by the police and local administration, a total of 9 people were traveling in the minibus that met with the accident. These included 7 children, a 27-year-old female supervisor (escort) and a 49-year-old driver.

Identification of the dead: According to international news agency AFP and the local prosecutor’s office, the 49-year-old driver of the bus, a 27-year-old female guide and two innocent children (aged 12 and 15) died on the spot in the accident.

Condition of the injured: Five other children traveling in the bus were seriously injured, who were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals through airlift and ambulance. According to doctors, the children’s injuries are serious but at present their condition remains stable.
After the accident, to avoid creating an atmosphere of panic and fear at the spot, security forces and rescue teams immediately put up large white tents around the damaged bus and surrounded the entire area so that people do not get distracted. At the same time, about 100 passengers aboard the train are completely safe and have been shifted to a nearby local fire station.

After this horrific accident, the Belgian government has ordered a high-level technical investigation into the matter. The country’s Home Minister Bernard Quintin expressed his deep condolences on the social media platform X and wrote, “My heartfelt condolences go out to the victims of this accident and their families. I wish the injured children a speedy recovery.” Along with this, the country’s Prime Minister Bart de Wever has also termed this incident as a ‘black day’ in the history of Belgium.
Not only Belgium, but the entire European Union (EU) is also shocked by this tragic incident. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen issued a message of condolence, saying, “I am completely heartbroken to hear the news of this terrible accident. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims and their loved ones. Today is a day when the whole of Europe joins Belgium in sharing this grief and mourning.”
