
Four phases of voting for the Lok Sabha elections have been completed in the country. Now the next election is on 20th May. The Election Commissioner has given information about how many votes have been cast so far and how many people have voted.
How many votes in four phases?
According to the Election Commission, 66.95 percent voting took place in the first four phases. In which a total of 45 crore people have voted. The Commission has also appealed to the voters to come out in large numbers and vote in the remaining 3 phases. The Election Commission said that the high voting percentage is a message from Indian voters to the whole world.
Highest voting in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena said that a total of 81.86 percent voting took place in the voting for 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said 80.66 per cent of votes were cast through EVMs, while 1.2 per cent of voters cast their votes through postal ballots. He said that out of 4.13 crore voters, 3,33,40,560 voted for 25 Lok Sabha seats while 3,33,40,333 voted for 175 Assembly seats. Meena said that Andhra Pradesh witnessed the highest turnout in the fourth phase of voting in the entire country. He said that the turnout was the highest in the history of the state.
Highest turnout in Srinagar since 1996
The Election Commission further said that since 1996, Srinagar Lok Sabha seat of Jammu and Kashmir has seen the highest voting percentage of 38 percent. Earlier in 1996, about 41 percent voting took place on this seat of Jammu and Kashmir. Voting took place at 2,135 polling stations in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Budgam and Shopian districts under the Srinagar constituency. According to the Election Commission, the highest turnout in this constituency in the last 34 years was in 1996. About 41 percent voters exercised their franchise.
