Holiday in Punjab, Himachal and Chandigarh till 7 September
In view of the critical condition of heavy rains and floods, holidays have been extended till September 7 in all government and private schools and colleges in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. Flood situation in Punjab remains, while this decision has been taken due to continuous rains and landslides incidents in Himachal Pradesh. The Chandigarh administration has also ordered the schools to be closed in view of bad weather.
Schools closed in many districts of Haryana and UP
The situation is bad due to rain in many districts of Haryana. Schools have been ordered to be closed in districts like Ambala and Jhajjar. Schools will remain closed till 6 September in Jhajjar.
In many cities of Uttar Pradesh, the administration has declared holidays after alert of heavy rains. All schools up to class 12th are closed till September 4 due to increased water level and flood situation of Yamuna river in Mathura. Apart from this, local administration has also announced holidays in view of the situation in many districts including Meerut, Hapur, Agra and Hathras.
Administration alert in Jammu and Kashmir too
Schools have been closed in many areas due to continuous rains and bad weather in Jammu and Kashmir. The administration is keeping an eye on the situation and the safety of children is being given priority.
Officials say this decision is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students. Parents and students have been advised to keep in touch with their schools, as these holidays can be carried forward in view of the weather conditions.
