Heat waves in Jharkhand, mercury crosses 40°C, yellow alert of heat wave in 12 districts from April 17

News India Live, Digital Desk: In Jharkhand, the sun has become harsh in the month of April itself. Temperature in many parts of the state 40 degrees Celsius The figure has been crossed, due to which life is being badly affected. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued advisory for 12 districts of the state in view of the extreme heat and heat wave. Yellow Alert Has been released. The maximum temperature is likely to increase further by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius within the next five days.

Heat wave alert in these districts (April 17 and 18)

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a strong possibility of heat wave in the following districts of the state on Friday (April 17) and Saturday (April 18):

Western and Central Jharkhand: Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla and Simdega.

Southern and Eastern Jharkhand: East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Khunti and Rajdhani Ranchi.

The effects of extreme heat are being seen in many industrial and urban areas of the state:

Seraikela: 40.6°C (highest in the state)

Medininagar (Palamu): 39.8°C

Jamshedpur: 39.0°C

Bokaro: 39.1°C

Ranchi: 35.2°C (temperature continues to rise)

Health department’s advice to protect from heat and sunstroke

In view of the scorching sun and danger of heatstroke, the administration has issued advisory for the people:

Avoid going out in the afternoon: Do not leave the house unnecessarily between 12 noon and 4 pm, when the sun is at its strongest.

Stay hydrated: Keep consuming adequate amount of water, ORS, lemonade or buttermilk even if you do not feel thirsty.

Dress: While going out, wear cotton and light colored clothes, cover your head with a cap or umbrella.

Special precautions: Take special care of children, elderly and pregnant women as they are at higher risk of heatstroke.

Hoping for some relief?

The Meteorological Department has predicted that on April 17, the state will north-eastern parts (Like Deoghar, Dumka, Sahibganj and Pakur) there may be partly cloudy sky and light rain with thunder at isolated places. However, there is no possibility of any permanent drop in temperature due to this. From April 19, the weather will again become completely dry and the sky will be clear, due to which the heat is expected to increase further.
