News India Live, Digital Desk: When we talk about a tough exam like JEE Main, transparency is the biggest thing in it. Often students complain that there is some technical glitch in their response sheet or calculation of marks. A student had reached Delhi High Court with one such complaint. His demand was that the methods of the National Testing Agency (NTA) should be re-examined. But the double bench of the High Court has made its stand completely clear on this matter.
What was the matter?
Actually, this matter had earlier gone to the single judge, where the student’s petition was rejected. The student did not give up and challenged it again. The argument was that there was something lacking in the examination process. But seeing the seriousness of the matter, the Delhi High Court clearly said that it will not interfere in the internal functioning of the examination conducting bodies, unless a very big and obvious irregularity is seen.
What did the court say?
The High Court said that the experts who conduct the examinations have a prescribed protocol. It is not right to consider the entire selection process or result doubtful on the basis of objections of one person. The court rejected the student’s petition and upheld the earlier order.
What does this mean for students?
This decision of the court indicates that the judicial system also gives importance to the correctness and time limit of examinations. The Court believes that if the court’s interference increases in sensitive matters like examinations, it delays the entire process which causes loss to lakhs of students who are waiting for admission.
Obviously, this is a blow to the student who fought a long legal battle for his complaint. But considering the strength of the system and the future of millions of children, the court has considered the autonomy of the institution as paramount. Now students are left with only one option – be aware of the technical glitches in the system in future and use only the complaint window provided by NTA.
