H-1B Visa Fee Issues: External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said

Post

News India Live, Digital Desk: Our Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar has recently said a very important thing about the global workforce i.e. the labor force spreading all over the world. He insisted that “this is a reality and we cannot run away from it.” He made this comment amid increasing pressure on India-US relations and especially the fees related to the H-1B visa. It is clear that the Government of India believes that it is now common for globalization and workers to come and go between countries, and we should not stay away from it.

Jaishankar also threw light on “India Influence” in the US. He explained how Indian migrants are emerging as a strong lobby in America, especially in political and technical areas. This simply means that people of Indian origin now have the ability to influence American society and its policies.

His comments have come at a time when two influential members of the US Representative Assembly – Stephen F. Lynch and Rachel Swine – have supported the ‘American Competitiveness and Workforce Improvement Act’ in the House of Representatives. The main goal of this law is to take H-1B and L-1 visa fees from companies who have more than 15% of the total workforce of H-1B visa or who have more than 50 employees. This law can be particularly affecting outsourcing and IT service companies, with a large number of India participation. This statement of Jaishankar clearly makes India’s attitude clear that it supports global labor mobility and is ready to negotiate issues related to it.
