Why is the importance of Guru Purnima so special in human life?
The spiritual significance of the full moon day is very high in Hindu philosophy, because on this day the moon is full in all its 16 phases, thereby infusing positive energy in the atmosphere. Out of all the 12 full moons of the year, only Ashadh Purnima was chosen for the Guru, because in the month of Ashadh the sky is covered with dense dark clouds.
These dark clouds symbolize the sorrows and ignorance of our life, and Guru is like the moon who completely erases the darkness of our life with his rays of knowledge through these dense clouds. Therefore, worshiping Guru on this day destroys all kinds of planetary defects, illusions and negativity in a person’s life and he attains salvation.
