Another historical chapter is going to be added in the infrastructure revolution of Uttar Pradesh. The construction work of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘dream project’ Ganga Expressway is now at its final stage. By the end of April, the people of the state will get the gift of the country’s longest expressway. This 594 km long expressway directly connecting Western Uttar Pradesh to Purvanchal is now completely ready for the movement of vehicles.
According to indications from Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Dr. Laxmikant Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi can launch it grandly on 29 April 2026. Dr. Vajpayee said that just as PM Modi has given gifts to Meerut like Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Rapid Rail (RRTS), now Ganga Expressway will become the biggest basis of UP’s connectivity.
3 biggest features of Ganga Expressway
1. 12 hours journey now in just 6 hours
Starting from Bijauli village in Meerut and going to Judapur Dandu in Prayagraj, this 594 km long expressway will save a lot of time. At present it takes 12 to 14 hours to go from Meerut to Prayagraj, but on this expressway with a speed of 120 km/hr this distance can be covered in just 6 hours.
2. Airstrip in Shahjahanpur and extension to Bihar
This expressway is also very important from strategic point of view. A 3.5 kilometer long airstrip has been built in Shahjahanpur, which can be used by fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force in case of emergency. Also, in the future, there is a plan to connect it to Bihar through Link Expressway, which will make the connectivity from Delhi to Bihar even easier.
3. Picture of 12 districts of UP will change
close to Rs 36,000 to Rs 37,000 crore Built at a cost of Rs. 1,000, this expressway will connect 12 important districts of UP (Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj). This will not only make transportation easier, but will also provide tremendous impetus to industrial corridors, logistics hubs and tourism in these areas.
New engine of industrial and economic development
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already made it clear that it will be opened to the public within April itself. There are also plans to develop a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) along this expressway, which will create lakhs of new employment opportunities for the local youth.
