Going out for shopping on Dhanteras? First know where you will need an umbrella and where you will need a sweater!

Posts

Today is Dhanteras and the whole country has gone to the markets to buy gold and silver and small and big household items. But before leaving the house, take a look at the sky, because the weather of the country has shown many different forms today. Somewhere the rain drops are welcoming Goddess Lakshmi, while somewhere the first snowfall on the mountains has given the knock of cold.

‘Yellow alert’ of rain in Mumbai and South India

If you live in Mumbai, Goa or South Indian states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, then definitely carry an umbrella with you while going out shopping today. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in these areas due to a cyclonic storm in the Arabian Sea. There is a ‘yellow alert’ for rain in Mumbai, where it may rain with strong winds. This rain is providing relief from the heat, but it can also cause some hindrance in festival shopping.

First snowfall on the mountains, now the whole of North India will tremble

The weather has taken a beautiful turn in the mountains of Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand. Snowfall has started on the high peaks, the direct effect of which is now visible on the plains.

  • Pink cold in Delhi, UP, Bihar: Cold winds coming from the mountains have increased the coolness of the morning and evening in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab and Haryana. The temperature has started falling and after Diwali you will start feeling quite cold.
  • The ‘villain’ of festival glamor and pollution: Along with cold, there is also a worry knocking, and that is pollution. The air of Delhi-NCR has already turned ‘poor’ (AQI 241), and the sky is covered with smog. Same is the condition of big cities of UP like Lucknow and Kanpur. This haze may become deeper till Diwali.

What is the condition of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar?

Now, even though there is light sunshine during the day in UP, the morning and night temperatures are going down significantly, due to which the feeling of cold has increased. At the same time, the weather is clear in Bihar too, but cold winds are blowing, due to which it is quite cold in the morning.

Overall, the weather in the country is mixed today on Dhanteras. At some places there are drops of rain along with the happiness of the festival, while at some places the cold has increased the feeling of Diwali.
