- First of all, you have to go to the ‘Sarathi’ website (sarathi.parivahan.gov.in) of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
- Here, select your state and click on ‘Apply for Learner License’.
- Fill the entire form carefully, which will include your personal information, address, educational qualification etc.
- Upload Documents:
- Scan and upload all the required documents. These mainly include your identity card (like Aadhar card), address proof and date of birth certificate.
- Also upload your photo and signature.
- Pay Fees:
- Pay the learning license fees through online mode.
- Once the payment is successful, you will get an application number, keep it safe.
- Learning License Test (Online Learner’s License Test):
- In some states you can give online test sitting at home. For this you will have to login with your application number and password.
- Questions related to traffic rules and road safety will be asked in the test. After passing it you can immediately download your learning license.
- Note: If online test is not available in your state, you may have to go to RTO for the test.
- Book Time Slot (Book Slot – Optional, for Permanent DL):
- At least one month after getting the learning license, you can book an online slot to take the driving test for Permanent DL. For this test you will have to go to RTO.
