The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has taken major legal action in the case of the fatal attack on the car of Bollywood’s famous action star Tiger Shroff. Notorious gangster Anil Pandit, who fired indiscriminately at the actor’s car in Juhu area and claimed responsibility for the attack on social media, has been formally declared a ‘wanted’ accused in the court by the Mumbai Police. Gangster Anil Pandit, who belongs to Lawrence Bishnoi Syndicate, is allegedly operating his criminal network sitting in the United States of America. Taking the investigation of the case forward, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested four new accused involved in interstate arms smuggling and conspiracy and produced them in the Esplanade Magistrate Court, from where the court has sent all four to police remand till October 26. After this sensational incident came to light, there has been a stir in the security department regarding the security arrangements of Bollywood stars and the new foreign module of the underworld.
The Mumbai Crime Branch, while making a detailed disclosure before the court, said that the deadly attack on actor Tiger Shroff’s car on October 18 was not a local dispute, but part of a well-planned conspiracy by gangsters based abroad. Gangster Anil Pandit, who is taking refuge in America, had openly taken responsibility for the shooting by sharing a post on internet media platforms immediately after the incident. According to police records, Anil Pandit is a highly active and dangerous member of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who provides targets, weapons and financial support to shooters in Indian metros from foreign soil. Police told the court that recce was conducted at the local level on the direct instructions of Pandit and the order for the attack was given by giving the exact location of the shooters. The process of issuing Red Corner Notice against Pandit through foreign investigative agencies and Interpol has also been started.
The investigating agencies have exposed a complex logistics network involved in this conspiracy. The Crime Branch team has arrested Kunal and Sumit, residents of Sonipat district of Haryana, along with two women—Radha and Babita, residents of Uttar Pradesh. The police clarified in the court that the role of these four was not merely that of helpers, but of delivering arms and ammunition to the shooters. During interrogation, it was revealed that Kunal and Sumit had gone to Amritsar in Punjab on the instructions of Anil Pandit and obtained an illegal pistol and 20 live cartridges. After this, female accused Radha and Babita were used to hide the weapons from the eyes of the law. These two women reached Mumbai by train with weapons and handed over the consignment to the shooters who carried out the crime.
This sensational incident took place on Sunday evening in Juhu, a posh area of Mumbai, when two unknown assailants riding a motorcycle suddenly opened fire on the moving car of actor Tiger Shroff and fled from the spot. It was fortunate that actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt, but the driver of his car and another companion were injured by bullet fragments and were treated in the hospital. Mumbai Police had registered a case at Juhu police station under serious sections of the Indian Penal Code for attempt to murder (attempt to murder) and the Arms Act. The police have so far arrested a total of 10 accused in this case. Earlier on Wednesday, the court had sent Rehan alias Sukka, resident of Sonipat, Haryana, Hrithik Kurmi alias Roshan, native of Begusarai, Bihar and resident of Mumbai, and Phool Singh, resident of Haryana, to police custody till October 31.
During the interrogation of the Crime Branch, the accused have revealed many shocking secrets regarding the preparations for the attack. According to police sources, just before committing the crime, the attackers had taken them to a deserted area near Mumbai to test their weapons and practiced rigorously so that the pistol did not lock on the spot. Not only this, it has also been sensationally revealed that the accused had loaded the illegal pistol and tested it in a hotel room in Andheri. During the test in the hotel room, one round was accidentally fired from the accused, which went straight into the mattress and bed of the room. Frightened by this incident, the accused immediately left the hotel and ran away. The forensic and ballistic team of Mumbai Police is now collecting evidence, kiosks and CCTV footage from the alleged practice site and the hotel room in Andheri so that a solid and irrefutable charge sheet can be filed in the court.
