On May 25, oil marketing companies have once again increased the prices of petrol and diesel. You will be surprised to know that this is the fourth time in just 11 days that the rates of petrol and diesel have been increased. Due to continuously rising fuel prices at rocket speed, there is a direct and huge impact on the budget of the general public.

Today also on Tuesday (26 May 2026), a big difference is being seen in the prices of oil due to freight and local tax (VAT) in different districts of Bihar including the capital Patna. The price of petrol in the state has already crossed the century mark i.e. Rs 100 per liter, while now diesel has also crossed Rs 100 in many districts.

What is the rate of petrol and diesel in Patna today?

According to the latest update of the famous financial website ‘Good Returns’, today on May 26, a slight increase in the prices of petrol and diesel has been recorded in the capital Patna. Today petrol is available in Patna at the rate of Rs 113.65 per liter, while the price of diesel has reached Rs 99.65 per liter. Diesel may be slightly below Rs 100 in Patna, but the situation is much more serious in other districts of Bihar.

Oil is the most expensive in Bettiah and Motihari, diesel also touched the figure of 100

Compared to the capital Patna, fuel prices are skyrocketing in the border and remote districts of Bihar. Oil prices in cities like Motihari and Bettiah currently remain the highest in the state:

  • Motihari: Today in this major city of Champaran, petrol is being sold at Rs 114.97 per liter and diesel at Rs 100.88 per liter.

  • Bettiah: Today, the price of petrol in Bettiah has been recorded at Rs 115.06 per liter, while diesel is available at Rs 101.07 per liter. Fuel prices in Bettiah remain significantly higher than both the capital cities of Patna and Motihari.

Prices increased in Muzaffarpur and Jehanabad also

Talking about Muzaffarpur, the big commercial hub of North Bihar, today the price of petrol here is stable at Rs 114.10 per liter and diesel at Rs 100.05 per liter. On the other hand, in Jehanabad district today the rate of petrol has been recorded at Rs 113.91 per liter and the price of diesel has been recorded at Rs 99.89 per liter.

In more than half of the districts of Bihar, the price of diesel has crossed the psychological figure of Rs 100 per liter. Diesel becoming expensive will have a direct impact on agricultural costs and freight transportation, due to which the possibility of fruits, vegetables and other essential ration items becoming expensive in the coming days has increased.
