Dhaka (Bangladesh), December 30: Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and President of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Khaleda Zia passed away this morning. He breathed his last at six in the morning at the age of 80. BNP Media Cell made this announcement on its official Facebook page.
Dhaka Tribune newspaper gave this information. Earlier in the night, AZM Zahid Hussain, a member of the medical board formed for the treatment of Khaleda Zia and a member of the BNP Standing Committee, had told journalists that her condition had deteriorated. Dr. Zahid told reporters at the main gate of Evercare Hospital in the capital Dhaka at around 2:15 pm, “The former Prime Minister is going through a very critical phase at this time.” For your information, Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on 23 November. Khaleda’s son Tariq Rahman has recently returned to Bangladesh from London after almost 17 years.
