This time the first Pradosh fast of the month of February is falling on Saturday, 14 February 2026. Being on Saturday, it will be called ‘Shani Pradosh Vrat’, which is also the first Shani Pradosh of the year 2026.

According to astrology, Shani Pradosh Vrat is like a boon for those people who are troubled by the effects of Saturn’s Sadesati or Dhaiya. It is believed that by observing fast on this day and worshiping Shiva during Pradosh period, the effect of the defects caused by Saturn is reduced and the obstacles in life are removed.

According to mythological beliefs, Lord Shiva is the guru of Shani Dev. By worshiping Mahadev on the day of Shani Pradosh, Shani Dev automatically becomes happy.

Child Happiness: By observing this fast the obstacles to having a child are removed.

Pitra Dosh: This fast is also considered helpful in getting freedom from Pitra Dosh.

Shani Shanti: Recitation of Shiv Chalisa and Shani Chalisa on this day is very fruitful for getting peace from the evil eye and troubles of Shani Dev.

Remedies for Shani Pradosh

If you want freedom from Shani Dosh and success, then do these special measures on this day:

Shadow Donation: Fill a bronze bowl with mustard oil, see your face in it (Chhaya Daan) and then donate it to a needy person.

Peepal Puja: On Saturday evening, light a four-sided lamp of mustard oil under the Peepal tree and go around it.

Abhishekam of sesame seeds: Offer raw milk mixed with black sesame seeds on Shivalinga. This reduces the inauspicious effects of both Rahu and Saturn.

On the day of Pradosh fast food and salt intake Is considered taboo.

At the time of puja, keep pure thoughts in your mind and chant the mantra ‘Om Shan Shanaishcharaya Namah’ along with ‘Om Namah Shivay’.
