Fire breaks out at Matarbari thermal power plant in Bangladesh:

Dhaka, January 13: A fire broke out in the scrap storage of Matarbari Thermal Power Plant in Maheshkhali Upazila of Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh. The fire department and civil defense department had to work hard to extinguish the fire. Plant officials say that orders have been given to investigate the cause of the fire.

According to the Dhaka Tribune newspaper report, the fire broke out in the waste storage of the plant at around 9:15 pm on Monday night. Ramprasad Sen, center in-charge of Maheshkhali fire department and civil defense department, said that the fire broke out in the garbage storage of the plant. As soon as the information was received, employees were sent with resources. The fire was extinguished in about two hours.

Locals said they saw flames inside the power plant from a bridge near the plant. Maheshkhali Deputy District Officer Imran Mahmood Dalim said that the fire broke out near the production unit of the power plant at around 8:45 pm. After some time he was brought under control. There was no impact on the production plant.
