Emergency landing at Los Angeles Airport of delta aircraft after engine fire

Post

New Delhi:

A flight from Delta Air Lines to Atlanta had to make an emergency landing on the Los Angeles International Airport (Lax) on Friday, as one of its engine caught fire soon after the flying.

The Boeing 767-400 registered as flight number DL446, N836MH was being operated. The aircraft, about 25 years old, had just flew from Lax when the flight team indicated a left engine fire.

Eyewitness Video and Aviation Livestream Channel LA flights In the footage of the aircraft, flames from the left engine were seen coming out from the left engine. Despite the frightening scenes, the aircraft safely returned to LAX and no passengers or any member of the crew suffered any injury.

Quick response ensures safety

The pilots immediately declared the Emergency and coordinated with air traffic control to immediately return to the airport. Los Angeles World Airports (Lawa) emergency units, including fire fighting vehicles and rescue teams, were deployed and placed on standby.

The aircraft was able to maintain stable altitude and speed while circling over the Pacific Ocean and then inland regions such as Downey and Paramount, which helped the crew to make a safety check list and prepare for landing.

After landing, the emergency team immediately extinguished the remaining flames and conducted a thorough inspection of the engine. The captain told the passengers that before taking the aircraft for further examination, teams are confirming that the fire was completely extinguished.

Ongoing investigation

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that it is investigating the incident. No official cause has been released yet, but initial signs indicate engine malfunction immediately after departure.

A detailed technical examination of the affected aircraft operated by two GE CF6 engines will be done.

Once again anxiety?

The incident is the second time in 2024 when Delta Airlines have faced the problem of engine fire during the flight. On 1 January, Delta A330NEO (Udaan DL105) returned to Atlanta after a similar engine problem while going to Sao Paulo.

Although no passenger was harmed in both cases, aviation safety experts say that these incidents outline the importance of regular maintenance and emergency preparation protocols.

Delta has not yet issued a detailed public statement regarding flight DL446, but confirmed that all passengers have been placed in a safe place and the airline is collaborating with federal investigators.
