News India Live, Digital Desk: During winter season our body spends more energy to fight the external environment. Just drinking water is not enough at this time. You need something which has a warming effect and helps fight the virus.
1. Golden power i.e. ‘turmeric milk’
In childhood, whenever we got hurt or had cold, the first thing mother used to give us was turmeric milk. Turmeric contains ‘curcumin’ which reduces inflammation and fights infection. If you do not sleep well at night and have pain in your hands and legs, then add half a teaspoon of turmeric and drink lukewarm milk. It’s not called ‘Golden Milk’ for nothing!
2. Strong tea with ginger and basil (without much caffeine)
In India, tea is not just a drink, it is an emotion. But if you use more ginger, basil and a little black pepper in your tea instead of a lot of sugar and milk, it will become a medicine for your sore throat and cough. Ginger maintains body temperature and basil keeps the respiratory system clean.
3. Almond and Saffron Milk
It may look a bit ‘royal’, but trust me it is the enemy of cold. Almonds contain vitamins and good fats and saffron keeps the body warm from within. If children feel lazy while studying, then give them saffron and ground almonds mixed with milk, both their memory and energy will increase.
4. Hot water or decoction with masala jaggery
If you find it difficult to digest milk, you can try herbal decoction. Add some jaggery, dry ginger (dried ginger), celery and black pepper to water and boil it. It will also keep your digestion healthy and drive out the cold stuck in your chest. In ancient times, people working in the fields used this to relieve their fatigue.
5. Vegetable Soup (hot cup)
If you feel a little hungry in the evening, make soup of fresh vegetables (carrot, tomato, spinach, garlic) instead of packaged soup. Garlic is hot in nature and contains antioxidants. Sprinkle some black salt and black pepper on top—this will not only be tasty, but will also help in weight control.
A little advice while passing by…
Winter doesn’t just mean eating more, but eating right. If you include these five drinks in your daily routine, then believe me, you will be free from medicines. Enjoy the cold, but keep your health in ‘gear’.
